Good candidates include people with a gummy smile, an uneven gumline, or a tooth that needs more structure exposed before a crown. Healthy gums help ensure a clean result. We evaluate your smile and the underlying tooth and bone first. Then we recommend whether reshaping gum, bone, or both will achieve your goal.

The area is numbed during treatment, and sedation is available, so you should feel comfortable throughout. Some mild soreness afterward is normal and usually settles within a few days. You will receive instructions to keep the area clean as it heals. Most people find recovery easier than expected.

Healing of the reshaped gum tissue typically takes one to two weeks, with the final contour settling over the following weeks. You will eat softer foods and avoid disturbing the area early on. Discomfort is generally mild. We follow up to make sure the gumline heals evenly.
