Sinus Lift Surgery

A sinus lift adds bone to the upper jaw in the area below the sinus, creating the height needed to place implants in the back of the mouth. The sinus membrane is gently raised and graft material is placed beneath it. Over several months, that material becomes solid bone. At Concierge Dental Design, it is a well-established way to make upper implants possible where bone is thin.

After losing upper back teeth, the sinus often expands downward and the bone there thins, leaving too little height for an implant. A sinus lift restores that bone so the implant has a stable foundation. Without it, an upper implant in that region may not be possible. A 3D scan shows whether you have enough bone or would benefit from the procedure.

The procedure is done under local anesthesia with sedation available, so you stay comfortable throughout. Most people experience swelling and mild tenderness for a few days, similar to other minor oral surgery. You will receive specific instructions to protect the sinus while it heals. Standard pain relief is usually all that is needed.

Initial healing takes a couple of weeks, but the grafted bone needs several months to mature before implants are placed. During recovery you will avoid blowing your nose forcefully and follow care steps that protect the site. Most people return to normal activities within a few days. We monitor your progress and confirm when you are ready for the next phase.
